I appreciate this blog post immensely. I'm a junior Java developer using Emacs full-time and I'd hit a wall today when updating JDTLS. Initialization options were no-longer working (It seems others have experienced this: https://github.com/eclipse-jdtls/eclipse.jdt.ls/issues/3108). You helped me configure eglot-workspace-configuration as a work-around and my company's formatter is finally working again!

Side note: I wondered whether the "small programming tasks" reference in the intro meant that you'd seen the same lovely talk as I did. Low-and-behold, you were the presenter of that talk. I'll be keeping up with your posts for sure.
